Los Angeles – Beginning in February, hundreds of painted life-sized fiberglass angel sculptures will beautify the streets of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Grateful Employee Organizations (GEO) are pleased to be participating in this celebrated event benefiting the Volunteers of America and Catholic Big Brothers.
GEO chose art students from Weemes Elementary School in Los Angeles to decorate an angel. Upon completion, the life-sized angel will be placed in front of Parker Center at the Los Angeles Police Memorial signifying remembrance of the “angels” who gave the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving the people of Los Angeles.
The media and public are invited to view the student’s artistic expression as they paint the angel on Friday, January 19, 2001, from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, January 20, 2001, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the school auditorium, located at 1260 W. 36th Place, Los Angeles.
