Subject Suffering Mental Health Crisis in West Los Angeles Area – NR23669rc

West Los Angeles: On September 4, 2023, around 8:05 a.m., West Los Angeles patrol officers responded to a radio call of a, “Attempt Suicide”, at Club View Drive and Comstock Avenue. The officers made contact with the subject. The subject stepped out of his vehicle and held a gun to his head. The subject was suffering from a mental health crisis.

West Los Angeles officers, Mental Evaluation Unit, and the Crisis Negotiation Team negotiated with the subject to drop his weapon and surrender. After several hours, the subject dropped his weapon and was taken into custody. The subject was placed on a mental evaluation hold by the Mental Evaluation Unit.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported and treated the subject for self-inflicted superficial wounds. His vehicle was released to his family and his registered firearm was booked at West Los Angeles station.
