To provide special activities for children who are part of the Sunshine Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, the organization provides positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. This is the sixth consecutive year the Department has participated and organized activities for the kids.
The day will start with a ceremony atop the Universal Sheraton Parking structure where the kids will be sworn in as Honorary Police Officers for the day and be provided with Junior Police Officer badges, certificates and gift bags. Then off to Raleigh Studios in a motorcade of police vehicles and motorcycles, travelling Code-3 (with red lights and sirens).
VISUALS INCLUDE Chief Beck spending time with the children during lunch and making sure each one feels as special as they are.
