Suspect Apprehended in Fatal Car Collision of a 61 Year-Old Man

Los Angeles: On April 3, 2005 at about 7:30 p.m., 61 year-old Saloman Castro Landaverde of Bakersfield was struck and killed by a passing vehicle as he crossed the street on eastbound Figueroa and Avenue 28.
Suspect Hugo Landa Siles, a resident of Los Angeles, was driving his 1990 Pontiac northbound on Figueroa when he struck the victim. Siles fled the location but was followed and apprehended by an off-duty Los Angeles Police Officer.
Siles who was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, was taken into custody on the northbound 2 Freeway at Verdugo boulevard and booked for Felony Vehicular Manslaughter.
