Suspect Arrested After DUI Crash Leaves One Dead NR24057dc

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic detectives are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic collision involving a DUI driver.

On February 12, 2024, around 11:45 p.m., a Tesla Model 3 was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound Western Avenue when it ran the red light and collided with a Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound Century Boulevard.  The impact of the Tesla Model 3 projected the Chevrolet Malibu several yards causing fatal injuries to the driver who was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Alfred Joseph Marvray IV, was pronounced deceased at scene. The 26-year-old Tesla driver was identified as, Destiney Baker, a resident of Hawthorne. She was booked for 187(A) PC – Murder at 77th Jail and is being held on $2,000,000 bail (booking no. 6449712).
