Suspect Arrested for Murder in Downtown Los Angeles Assault NR19188jl

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection to a recent homicide.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 2, 2019, the victim, Julius Rondez, was in the 400 block of E. Temple Street when the suspect approached the victim and knocked him to the ground. The victim struck his head on the pavement as a result of the unprovoked attack. The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department and was in critical condition. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital on July 3, 2019.

On July 11, 2019, 22-year-old, Gerson Carrillo Torres was in the area of 3rd Street and Wall when officers detained him believing he may be the suspect in this case. Detectives determined Torres was the suspect and Torres was booked for 187(A) PC, Murder. Torres is being held on $2,000,000 bail.
