Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting at Shopping Center NR23076jl

A second suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Amy Waters (driver), a Simi Valley resident. She was arrested for 2800.2 (A)VC Felony Evading in the area of Saticoy Street and Canoga Avenue. She was booked at Van Nuys Jail, Booking Number: 6579168.

Suspect Connole crashed his vehicle and fled the shooting at Fallbrook Mall, Amy Waters drove to his location, picked him up and fled. A pursuit ensued by marked police vehicles, Suspect Waters failed to pull over and violated numerous vehicle code violations putting the public at risk. Both suspects were eventually taken into custody without further incident.

 

 

West Hills: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide unit is investigating a shooting that resulted in four people sustaining gunshot wounds, one of whom died at the scene.

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, around 3:45 p.m., the victims arrived at the Fallbrook Shopping Center parking lot in the 22900 block of Vanowen Street. One of the victims met with the suspect for unknown reasons. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victims when the suspect produced a handgun and began to fire at them. Three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics pronounced a fourth victim dead at the scene. Multiple people fled the area, and numerous calls to 911 were generated.

The suspect, described as a male, White, was seen fleeing the area in a red Honda. Responding Topanga Area officers were directed to this vehicle by an LAPD Airship. A short pursuit ensued after the driver failed to yield. The driver eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without incident. A firearm was recovered, and the suspect was arrested for murder and transported to Topanga Area Station.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Mark Connole of Woodland Hills. He was booked at Van Nuys Jail for 187 PC/Murder. Bail has been set at $2,000,000.00, booking #6579154. The investigation is currently ongoing. Detectives have canvassed the area and are investigating all leads. Detectives request the assistance of any witnesses present at the Fallbrook Shopping Center during the incident to come forward. Additionally, any persons who captured cell phone video of the altercation before the incident or the shooting are requested to notify detectives.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to the family.
