Suspect Dead and Several Others Injured During Early Morning Robbery NR21164jl

Hollywood: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division are investigating an early morning robbery that left one person dead and several others injured.

On Friday, June 25, 2021, around 2:05 a.m., a robbery occurred in front of a residence located in the 1400 block of Blue Jay Way in the Hollywood Hills area. Two suspects exited their vehicle armed with handguns and wearing ski masks. A third suspect remained in the vehicle. The suspects forced two victims onto the ground at gunpoint where they removed their property (watches and jewelry). During the robbery, an armed security guard exchanged gunfire with the armed suspects. The suspects got back in their vehicle and fled the location. Responding officers were able to broadcast the description of the getaway vehicle. Los Angeles Police Department officers later observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Santa Monica Boulevard and Doheny Avenue. Officers discovered that one suspect was shot in the abdomen and was pronounced dead at scene by LAFD personnel. The second suspect was shot in the ankle and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The third suspect was taken into custody without incident. A firearm was also recovered from inside the suspect vehicle.

The security guard sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

The two robbery victims were also struck by gunfire and are currently in stable condition at a local hospital.
