Suspect Flees Fatal Hit and Run Scene – Detective’s Request Public Assistance to

On Tuesday, April 6, 1999 at 7:50 a.m., a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred on Santa Monica Boulevard at Beverly Glen Boulevard in the West Los Angeles Area. Paul Allen Foster, a 54 year old resident of the Bel Air area of Los Angeles, was southbound on Beverly Glen Boulevard when he was struck by an out of control vehicle. The vehicle which struck Mr. Foster was initially struck by a 1998-1999 Ford Contour which subsequently struck Mr. Foster. Ultimately four vehicles in all were involved but only the Contour fled the scene. Mr. Foster was transported to UCLA Medical Center where he later died.

The Contour has right front damage, is missing the grill and is light champagne gold in color. The driver was described as a male Black, 30-35 years old. Debris from the hit and run vehicle was recovered as well as a security video tape showing the vehicle fleeing the scene.

A reward has been requested via Councilmember Mike Feuer’s office. (The collision occurred on the border between Councilmembers Feuer and Ruth Galanter’s districts.) Flyers have been distributed by both the Police Department and the family seeking the community’s assistance in locating the vehicle and/or driver. Local Police Departments have also been notified as well as neighborhood organizations and it is hoped that information will soon be forthcoming. West Traffic Division is actively seeking the public’s help in locating the vehicle and/or driver.
