On Monday, February 8, 1999, at approximately 12:40 A.M., Foothill uniformed patrol division officers responded to 15105 Kingsbury Street to conduct an assault with a deadly weapon follow-up investigation. The officers were in possession of a signed crime report and suspect description.
Upon arrival, the officers identified themselves and knocked on the residence front door. Upon entry into the residence, the officers observed the described suspect. While checking the residence for additional suspects, they identified themselves and knocked on an inner bedroom door. The officers were able to hear that someone was in the room and after several commands to open the door, a male White suspect opened the door. The suspect who was armed with a shotgun, raised and pointed it at officer. The officer fearing for his life, fired his service pistol at the suspect. The suspect received a gunshot wound to his hip area. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
No one else was injured as a result of this incident.
Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital. The suspect was transferred to the County USC Hospital Jail Ward where he will be booked for Assault With a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer.
The suspect’s weapon was recovered at the scene.
Robbery Homicide Division, in conjunction with Foothill Area Detectives, is conducting the investigation.
