Suspect Surrenders to Police After Having Struck Pedestrian in Hit and

On Sunday, January 2, 2000, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision occurred near the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue. According to witnesses and physical evidence, the pedestrian was walking east bound in the crosswalk on Rose Avenue when he was struck by a gray pickup truck, later identified as a 2000 Ford F150 pick-up truck, traveling northbound on Lincoln Boulevard. The pedestrian was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel to U.C.L.A. Medical Center where he succumbed to blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:53 AM.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Mr. Gordon Sieber of Los Angeles, responded to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Station where he identified himself as the driver of the vehicle involved in the Hit and Run traffic collision. Mr. Sieber was taken into custody and booking charges are pending.

Witnesses reported that the victim was a homeless person and notification to relatives has not yet been made.

The investigation is being handled by West Traffic Division Detectives.
