Suspect Wanted in Connection With Jewelry Theft

SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH JEWELRY THEFT

The Los Angeles Police Department, Burglary-Auto Theft Division, is investigating a Grand Theft that occurred on Wednesday, January 19, 2000, at approximately 3:00 p.m. A suspect, wearing a uniform and posing as a "Brink’s" Security Guard, entered a business in The Downtown Jewelry Mart and intercepted $835,000 worth of jewelry and diamonds destined for a jewelry show in Florida. (The jewelry had an overlapping logo of a "SC").

The suspect is described as a male, white, Black hair, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, weighing 190 to 200 pounds, 40 to 42 years of age.

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the assistance of the community by asking that any witness contact Burglary-Auto Theft Detective Evans or Detective Brazzill at 213-485-2524 ; after business hours call 213-485-2504.

There is a $25,000 reward being offered by the victim (business owner) for information leading to the recovery of the property and the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
