At a news conference today, LAPD command staff and detectives, along with representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms joined family members of victim Kashmier James and others to provide updates on James’ murder investigation and thank the public for their support.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing, which is described below in a press release from last December.  Charges filed against the suspects include murder, attempted murder and gang allegations.

$50,000 Reward Detectives Seek Information on Christmas Night Shooting  NR10604rf

Los Angeles:  Today, the Los Angeles Police Department announced a $50,000 reward sponsored by Councilmember Bernard C. Parks for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects in a Christmas night shooting in South Los Angeles.

At about 10:30 p.m., 25-year-old Kashmier James was standing in the 1700 block of West 85th Street.  Two suspects, described as two male Blacks in their 20s, approached in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle (SUV).  One of the suspects exited the SUV and walked toward James.  The suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple gunshots, striking James.  The suspect then ran back to the SUV, which was last seen southbound on Western Avenue from 85th Street.

James sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including one to her head.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.
