"Suspects Arrested in the Shooting Death of 14 year-old Female"
 
Los Angeles – On Friday, January 12, 2001, at 11:00 A.M., a Press Conference will be held at Southeast Area Community Police Station, 145 West 108th Street, announcing the arrests of four individuals responsible for the shooting death of 14 year-old Cynthia Gonzalez.
On January 7, 2001, at 1100 hours, a gang related shooting occurred between two rival gangs. The shooting occurred at 97th Street and Main Street; both groups of suspects were shooting at each other from opposite sides of the street.
The victim was walking on 97th Street from Main Street with her mother and two year-old sister when they were caught in the crossfire of shots fired from the two groups of gang members. The 14-year-old female was struck in the upper torso and collapsed at the scene. She was pronounced dead by the responding paramedics. The two year-old girl was also injured by the gunfire. She was transported to local hospital, treated for an abrasion to her abdomen and was later released.
One juvenile and three adult suspects have been arrested in relation to this case.
The District Attorney’s Office has filed murder charges against the juvenile. The District Attorney’s Office will be reviewing the charges against the three adults arrested for this murder.
