Police Commission President David S. Cunningham, III, will announce his intention to recommend 14 individuals to the “Task Force for Ethical Charities.” Approval of the task force and its mission will be considered at the Police Commission meeting immediately following this press conference.
WHY:
Unethical charitable solicitations are rampant in Los Angeles. While many charities operate within legal regulations, they do not operate ethically. The “Task Force for Ethical Charities,” will be asked to create a recommendation to end this problem in Los Angeles. It is estimated unethical Los Angeles charities mislead donors into giving more than one hundred million dollars every year, diverting money from the ethical charities that provide numerous goods and services for the City of Los Angeles.
