WHAT: Multicultural and Interfaith Community Iftar (In Recognition of Ramadan)

WHEN: Thursday May 9th, 2019 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

WHERE: LAPD Headquarters (CompStat Room) 100 W. 1st Street Los Angeles, CA 90012

WHO: Consul General of Sri Lanka, Swarna Gunaratni Dr. Ahmad Sobah, Chairman, Islamic Shura Council of SoCal Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Assoc. Dean and Director of Global Social Action at the Simon Wiesenthal Center Pastor J. Edgar Boyed, First AME Church LAPD Assistant Chief, Beatrice Girmala, Office of Special Operation LAPD Commander, Gerald Woodyard, Community Engagement Group

WHY: In observance of the month of Ramadan, the LAPD is hosting a community event that is all inclusive to all faiths and cultures. As an organization, the LAPD want to show solidarity with those in the Islamic faith, and we want to do it in collaboration with community members of all faiths. In attendance, there will be members of the Jewish, Buddhist, Christian, and Islamic faiths, coming together to break bread inside LAPD HQ.
