Third Murder Suspect Caught

July 2, 2003

On Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at 4:30 p.m., 20 year-old Jamar Cornell Nunally, peacefully surrendered himself at the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Area Police Station. Nunally was accompanied by his attorney. Nunally was transported and booked at the Hollywood Area Police Station. His arrest ends the nation-wide alert for the three individuals believed to be involved in the May 19th murder of 25 year-old Ryan Groetken, a resident of Long Beach. Groetken was the victim of a carjacking in the 1800 block of Cherokee Avenue. Groetken was then callously shot and killed after complying with the suspects’ demands. The suspects fled in Groetken’s car, which was described as a 1999, four-door, silver Lexus GS 300. Warrants for the suspects arrest had been issued on June 20, 2003.
On Friday June 27, 2003 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the 75th precinct of the New York Police Department detained a vehicle in the Brooklyn area that contained five occupants. Upon determining the identities of the five males it was determined that two of the occupants were the suspects responsible for Groetken’s murder. They are 19 year-old Dane Edward Woodson and 24 year-old Garrett Watson.
Both Woodson and Watson have chosen to fight their extradition’s to California and a Governor’s Warrant for their return will be obtained. Nunally is scheduled to be arraigned at the Los Angeles Criminal Courts building, Division 30, on Wednesday, July 2, 2003.
