October 21, 2026

San Pedro: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a 47-year-old woman dead.

On October 21, 2026, around 1:30 a.m., a tractor trailer stopped at a red light in the intersection of Channel Street and Gaffey Street. As the tractor-trailer began turning left to travel southbound on Gaffey Street, the rear right tires struck and fatally injured the female pedestrian.

The driver of the tractor trailer continued traveling without stopping to identify itself or render aid as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
