Traffic Accident Leaves Woman Dead

Los Angeles: On Thursday, March 13, 2003, at approximately 11:10 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Rayen Street.
A 1994 Grand Jeep Cherokee traveling northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard collided with the left side of a 1993 Ford Thunderbird, which was traveling westbound on Rayen Street. The Grand Jeep Cherokee was forced into a northeastern direction, ran off the roadway and collided with the below pedestrians.
Piedad Flores, a 44 year-old female Hispanic and her 5 year-old niece were standing on the northeast corner, when the Grand Jeep Cherokee front side collided with a concrete barrier, and pinned Piedad between the post and the front of the vehicle.
Los Angeles Fire Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Piedad to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after, due to the blunt force trauma to the lower part of her body.
The 5 year-old child sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the Grand Jeep Cherokee is a 38 year-old male Hispanic and a resident of Sherman Oaks.
The driver of the Ford Thunderbird is a 23-year old male Hispanic and a resident of Panorama City.
