"Traffic Collision in Downtown Kills Pedestrian"
 

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 1988 Dodge Van traveling eastbound on 4th Street approaching Los Angeles Street. As the van entered the intersection, a 1999 Toyota Avalon, which was northbound on Los Angeles Street, collided with the van. The van continued out of control, ran upon the sidewalk and collided with Aura Conner, 37 years of age, Heather Conner, ten years of age, Billy Hernandez, 11 years of age, and Maria Conner, 66 years of age.
All involved parties were transported to USC Media Center, where they were administered emergency treatment for their injuries. Aura Conner sustained massive internal injuries as a result of the collision and fail to respond and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The remaining parties were all listed in stable condition.
