Transient Beat to Near Death

On Monday, March 29, 1999, at approximately 10:00 P.M., the victim, a male Black, 34 years of age, and his girlfriend, who are homeless, were inside their make shift home at the corner of 6th Street and Mesquite. They heard noise outside and the victim went to investigate when he was confronted by three males. Apparently, one of the males and the victim had been involved in a dispute on Sunday, March 28, 1999. When the victim asked what the males wanted, they started beating him with objects they were carrying. The victim attempted to escape but was struck numerous times on the head.

After the beating, the suspects fled the location in an unknown type vehicle. All three suspects are described as male Blacks only and their identity is unknown at this time. The objects used to inflict the injuries are unknown. There is no additional information on the suspects at this time.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and has been placed on a life support system. The victim’s identity has been established but not available for release.
