Tribute to Chief

The Los Angeles Police Department Chief, Bernard Parks and his wife Bobbie, will be honored at White Memorial Medical Center Charitable foundation’s “Gala ’98,” on Sunday, September 27, at the Beverly Hilton, 9876 Whilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills. The black-tie event starts with a VIP reception and social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner starting at 7 p.m.

Celebrities scheduled to attend the VIP reception include the following actors: George Wallace, Richard Dreyfuss, Samuel L. Jackson, Eric LaSalle, Joe Montegna, Gordon Clapp and Edward James Olmos. Other celebrities include: Manny Mota and Don Newcombe, former Los Angeles Dodger players.

To commemorate his distinction at the event, the specially composed tribute march titled “Chief Bernard C. Parks, LAPD,” will be performed for the first time ever by the Los Angeles Police Department Pipe Band, a group of civilian volunteer bagpipe players who perform for civic and law enforcement functions.
