Tujunga: Crime is down in Tujunga! When comparing the number of crimes committed to date this year, with the number last year, the residents of Tujunga have enjoyed a 15.2% decrease in overall crime. This is especially remarkable considering that during the same period the crime in most parts of the City of Los Angeles, including most of Foothill Area, has gone up.
Why is crime up in those areas and down in Tujunga? Teamwork. Crime is down in Tujunga because of the dedicated officers and community leaders that serve and live in the area. People genuinely committed to their community and who have a wealth of knowledge of the crime problems, quality of life issues, and most importantly, the people that make up the community.
To celebrate, Foothill Area Community Police Station will host an Open House Festival on Saturday, October 6, 2001, between the hours of 11:00am and 3.00 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in for a day filled with fun, food, and dancing! The Festival will include, but not be limited to station tours, children’s activities and fingerprinting, K-9 demonstrations, and firearm training simulators.
If Tujunga as a community can reduce crime and reclaim its streets, school and parks, why can’t we begin to do this in all of our Los Angeles communities? A special invitation to attend the Festival is extended to all those who believe and would like to participate in crime reduction efforts in their communities. An opportunity to participate and speak to Nina Royal of the Sunland-Tujunga Ad Hoc Neighborhood Council who can outline how crime was reduced in Tujunga.
