Two Found Dead in the Back of a Sport Utility Vehicle

Los Angeles: Central Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting deaths of two male Blacks, identified as, Daniel Paul Funderburk, 29 years of age, and Emanuel Earl Johnson, 36 years of age.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2003, the two victims were discovered in the rear of a black 1999 GMC sports utility vehicle. The vehicle was parked at the curb in the 400 block of Santa Fe Avenue. According to witnesses who frequent the area, the vehicle was seen as early as Saturday, May 24, 2003, parked with no one in the vehicle. On Tuesday, May 27, 2003, an unknown transient notified a local business owner that there was possibly a dead body in the vehicle and asked the business owner to phone the police.
Los Angeles Police officers responded and observed two victims in the rear of the vehicle. Officers notified Central Homicide Detectives who responded and took over the investigation.
No suspects have been identified and no motive has been established for the murders.
