Two Murder Suspects Caught, One Outstanding

Los Angeles: On Monday May 19, 2003 at 2:48 a.m., police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division responded to a radio call of a vehicle taken in a robbery with shots fired, in the 1800 block of North Cherokee Avenue.
Arriving officers observed a male, the victim of a gunshot wound, lying on the sidewalk. Friends of the victim, Ryan James Groetken, informed officers that two male Black suspects confronted Groetken and demanded his personal property. One of the suspects then shot Groetken. At least one suspect fled in his vehicle.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and transported Groetken to a local hospital where he died as a result of his gunshot wounds.
On Friday June 27, 2003 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the 75th precinct of the New York Police Department detained a vehicle in the Brooklyn area that contained five occupants. Upon determining the identities of the five males it was determined that two of the occupants were the suspects responsible for Groetken’s murder. They are 19 year-old Dane Edward Woodson and 24 year-old Garrett Watson. Warrants were issued for their arrest on June 20, 2003.
A third suspect, Jamar Cornell Nunally, a male Black 20 years-old black hair and brown eyes 5’9" and 150 lbs., is still outstanding. He is believed to be in the Los Angeles area and possibly driving a 1991 Infinity Q45 four-door green in color with California license plate 5ARR145.
Hollywood Homicide Detectives and the family of Ryan Groetken are sincerely appreciative of the invaluable assistance and cooperation provided by "New York’s Finest" that led to the arrests of Woodson and Watson.
