Los Angeles:  LAPD officers said two teenagers have died after being gunned down by suspected gang members Friday afternoon in Highland Park.

The incident began shortly before 3:30 p.m. when a patrol unit was dispatched to investigate a shooting call in the 6100 block of North Figueroa Street.  When the officers got to the scene, they discovered Alejandro Garcia, 16, and Carlos Hernandez, 15, lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both of the victims were taken to an area hospital where they died as a result of their injuries.

It is unclear how many suspects were involved in the incident.  Investigators have few leads and described the suspects only as male Hispanics with short hair.
