UCLA Football Player Arrested for Sexual Assault NR15348jr

Westwood: Sexual assault investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department arrested a UCLA football player on October 8, 2015 for suspicion of rape.

On October 19, 2014, a student at the University of California, Los Angeles, reported that she was the victim of a sexual assault. She had met the suspect outside of an off-campus house party in Westwood and he accompanied her to a nearby residence. She fell asleep and awoke to discover the suspect sexually assaulting her. After an exhaustive investigation, in conjunction with the University of California Police Department, she was able to identify UCLA student 20-year-old Adam Searl to detectives for the LAPD’s Operations West Bureau-Special Assault Section.

Investigators took Adam Searl, a current member of the UCLA football team, into custody without incident on campus on Thursday, October 8, 2015. Searl was booked on three counts of rape, a violation of section 261(a) (2) of the California Penal Code, with a bail of $300,000. They expect to present the case for felony filing consideration to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on October 13, 2015.
