Van Nuys: Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Gang Units and allied agencies worked together to conduct parole and probation compliance checks resulting in ten arrests for narcotics violations and one possession of a firearm.
On Friday, March 20, 2015, in an effort to maintain a peaceful community and keep our neighborhoods safe from criminal predators, “Operation LA Saves” is one of several task force operations conducted by LAPD and a variety of agencies including; LA County Probation, State Parole, LA County Department of Children and Family Services, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Department of Homeland Security.
The multi-agency task force focused their efforts on areas around Van Nuys where individuals whom are on parole or probation reside. The parole and probation compliance checks help to ensure that those who are not in jail or prison are abiding by the conditions placed upon them by the criminal justice system.
This operation was led by officers from the Van Nuys Gang Enforcement Detail (GED), under the supervision of Sergeant Pete Gillies, who coordinated the multi-agency task force. The operation involved officers responding to 33 specific locations where the compliance checks were conducted. As a result of their efforts, ten individuals were arrested on a variety of charges including, possession of narcotics, possession of a firearm and other violations of conditions
“The task force went as planned and we were extremely satisfied with the results” said Sergeant Pete Gillies. “Our Van Nuys GED is comprised of highly motivated and committed professionals who have dedicated themselves to keeping the Van Nuys Community safe from gang violence and gang crimes” Gillies said. The recent homicide that occurred last week has been identified as a gang related crime, and it is actively being investigated. During the parole and compliance check operation, every person contacted during was debriefed for potential information that would assist in the identification of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Javier Indalecio who was shot in the 14000 block of Gilmore Street last Tuesday evening around 11:15 p.m.
