Victim Dies from Drive-By Shooting

On Monday, May 31,1999, at approximately 10:35 p.m., the victim, Quentin Torry Buttler, male, Black, 27 years of age, was walking westbound on the south sidewalk, in front of 960 West 62nd Place. A medium sized, white vehicle approached the victim’s location, eastbound on 62nd Place from Vermont Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) fired numerous rounds from an unknown type semi-automatic weapon, striking the victim in the upper torso.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Martin Luther King Emergency Hospital. The victim failed to respond to medical treatment and succumb to his injuries at 11:30 p.m.

The suspect(s) and murder weapon is outstanding. The motive for the shooting is possibly gang related.
