Victim Found Dead in Hotel Room

Los Angeles: Central Area Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 72 year-old male Hispanic.
On Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the victim’s body was discovered in his hotel room at the Alexandria Hotel, 501 South Spring Street, by hotel security responding to a possible injured person report. Upon finding the deceased on the floor of the room, security guards notified the Los Angeles Fire Department. Paramedics responded and observed no signs of life and pronounced death at 12:05 p.m.
The victim’s identity has been established but is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin. The cause of death appears to be strangulation. The suspect in this case is not known and there is no additional information at this time.
