Victim’s ex-boyfriend jumps onto freeway after domestic dispute

On Sunday, November 29, 1998 at approximately 9:15 a.m., Northeast Area police officers responded to a call of a man down on the northbound Glendale Freeway under the Estara Avenue overpass in the Glassell Park area of Los Angeles. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics also responded and pronounced death. Subsequent investigation revealed the decedent may have jumped onto the freeway and succumbed due to the fall.

Further investigation also revealed the decedent had been involved in a domestic dispute with an ex-girlfriend at about 8:45 a.m. The decedent entered her residence and stabbed his ex-girlfriend. A family member came to her aide and was able to remove the decedent from the residence. The victim was transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center where she is listed in serious but stable condition.

The decedent is described as a male, Hispanic, age 32, and resides in the Glassell Park area of Los Angeles. The victim is a female, Hispanic, age 32, and also resides in the Glassell Park area. The notification of next of kin is still pending.

Northeast Detective Marta Ramos is investigating the incident.
