Live video prevents crime and can catch taggers in the act.
LOS ANGELES – Councilmember Jack Weiss and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officials will demonstrate the newly installed live feed video cameras which have been installed to prevent criminal activity on Ventura and Van Nuys Boulevards.
Councilmember Jack Weiss
LAPD Captain Jim Miller
Van Nuys Police Station
6240 Sylmar Avenue
Event will be held at the base of the stairs front of the Station (if it rains, same location but right underneath building at the stairs). During the event media can view the video monitors inside the Watch Commander’s office.
Cameras are located on Ventura Blvd. and Van Nuys Blvd. Sherman Oaks including at:
Calhoun and Ventura Blvd.
Cedros and Ventura Blvd.
Van Nuys Blvd and Ventura Blvd.
Milbank and Van Nuys Blvd.
Thursday February 5, 1:00 p.m.
The cameras were needed because some of the areas have been attractive to taggers and other locations have had break-ins. The cameras will give LAPD an extra set of eyes and deter criminal activity in the area. The cameras are a collaborative effort funded by the BID/Village at Sherman Oaks, Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council and the Office of Councilmember Jack Weiss.
The LAPD will allow media to view the live feed video inside the Watch Commander’s office.
