"Operation Holiday Hook"

On Wednesday, December 16, 1998, at 8:00 a.m., West Traffic Division will be holding a press conference to announce " Operation Holiday Hook". The News Conference will be held in the parking lot of Pacific Division, 12312 Culver Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.

"Operation Holiday Hook" is a massive West Bureau-wide traffic safety and vehicle impound operation to remove unregistered vehicles and unlicensed drivers from the road since they are most likely to be involved in hit-and-run accidents.

The operation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Impounding unregistered vehicles, citing or arresting unlicensed drivers will be conducted by approximately 10 officers from Pacific, Hollywood, Wilshire and West Los Angeles Division; 40 West Traffic motor officers and sergeants; auto detail detectives; Reserve Officers; and Department of Transportation.

Captain Paul Kim, Commanding Officer of West Traffic Division, will be conducting the press conference. Community members will also be present during the press conference to set the tone and clarify the Community standard regarding unregistered vehicles, unlicensed drivers, and uninsured motorist. The mission of the operation is to respond to community’s needs and expectations and reduce hit and run traffic collisions.
