LAPD’s West Los Angeles Community Police Station has been coordinating a food drive. The event was launched on November 5th and will culminate this Sunday November 18th with a weigh in at our station.
Community partners were asked to hold their own food drives which will be combined to make one large donation to the “SOVA Community Food and Resource Program”.
Local businesses, other LAPD area stations, Greek letter organizations from UCLA and USC, as well as individual donors have stepped up to the challenge and will help the officers from West Los Angeles Area fight hunger in our community.
Jewish Family Service wants to thank the West Los Angeles Community Police Station for organizing the food drive that will help provide food and hope to the vulnerable individuals and families we serve,” said Paul S. Castro, CEO of Jewish Family Service. “At a time when people throughout the community are having difficulty meeting their most basic food needs, food drives like the one being held today allow the Jewish Family Service and SOVA Community Food and Resource Program to provide them with free groceries and other services. We deeply appreciate the support and participation of so many generous and committed individuals.”
If any member of the public would like to show their support for our food drive effort they can stop by West Los Angeles Community Police station on the day of the weigh in with a contribution of non-perishable food items.
