"West Traffic Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision"

Los Angeles – On August 31, 2000, at approximately 3:50 a.m., a green Ford Expedition traveling northbound on La Brea Avenue collided with a brown Cadillac El Dorado that was westbound on Pico Boulevard. The 16-year-old driver of the Expedition and the two occupants left the scene of the collision on foot but were later arrested by Wilshire Area patrol officers. The driver of the Cadillac was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the Cadillac.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford Expedition caused the collision when it failed to stop for a red light.

The 16-year-old driver has been arrested and will be booked for 20001 VC, Felony Hit and Run. The passengers of the suspect’s vehicle have been questioned and released.

The victim has been identified as Harold Clayton, 53 years of age and a resident of Los Angeles.
