Woman Found Dead, Suspicious Circumstances

Los Angeles: On Thursday, February 3, 2005, at approximately 4:18 p.m., Northeast patrol officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Prospect Avenue for a "Death Investigation."
Earlier in the day the apartment manager was notified of a smoke alarm activation in one of the apartment units. The manager noticed the resident’s vehicle was in the carport. After futile attempts to get the resident to open the door he let himself in. Once inside, the lifeless body of 62-year-old Norlyn Katzen was discovered.
Los Angeles City Fire Department was dispatched to Ms. Katzen’s apartment and they pronounced her dead.
Northeast Homicide detectives are investigating this death as a homicide. The cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy is pending.
