Woman Killed in Scooter Crash as Suspect Flees the Scene

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a woman in her 30s.

On April 8, 2025, around midnight near Figueroa Street and Colden Avenue, the suspect vehicle was traveling northbound on Figueroa Street when it struck the victim, riding her scooter and crossing westbound on Figueroa Street. The driver continued northbound on Figueroa Street, fleeing the scene without identifying themselves or providing aid, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at scene. Her name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

South Traffic Division detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the collision to provide details regarding this felony hit-and-run.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
