Woman Killed in Traffic Collision; Driver Arrested NR12484cj

Los Angeles:   A mini-van struck and killed a woman walking on Canoga Avenue Monday morning. Police need your help in providing any information.

On Monday, October 22, 2012, around 5:45 a.m., Valley Traffic Division Officers were called to investigate a traffic collision that occurred on Canoga Avenue north of Arcos Drive in Woodland Hills, California.

Los Angeles resident, 52-year-old Michael Trejo, was driving a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan north on Canoga Avenue when he struck a pedestrian who was walking in the northbound lane of Canoga Avenue.

Trejo stopped at scene and attempted to render aid, however, the pedestrian was pronounced dead by Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel.  The pedestrians name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

Trejo was not injured in the collision but he was arrested for Misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence.  He is being held on $15,000 bail.

The public is reminded to always use crosswalks and to remember that wearing light colored clothing while walking at night will increase visibility.
