May 20, 2011

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Valley Traffic Division (VTD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating anyone who may have witnessed a severe traffic collision in which a woman has been seriously injured.

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011, shortly after 9:30 p.m., 21-year-old West Hills resident Anais Garcia was making a left turn from eastbound Victory Boulevard to northbound Platt Avenue in her 2002 Cadillac Escalade when she struck and seriously injured 50-year-old Adriana Buckelew, also from West Hills.  When the impact occurred, Buckelew was in a marked crosswalk.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel rushed Buckelew to a local hospital where she remains in grave condition.

Though the incident was not a hit-and-run collision, traffic detectives could still use the public’s help in their investigation and are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to contact VTD Officer R.
