Mission: The Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of 21-year-old Jessica Torres.

On February 1, 2018, around 2:30 a.m., Mission Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a “Shooting Just Occurred”, in the area of Van Nuys Boulevard and Arminta Street in Van Nuys. When officers arrived, they found Ms. Torres suffering from a gunshot wound.

Detectives investigation revealed, Torres was driving in the area when a suspect approached in a separate vehicle, fired a gun, striking Torres. The suspect left the scene in the vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Torres to a local hospital where she was treated for several days.

On February 3, 2018, Torres died from her injuries.

There is no suspect description and the investigation is ongoing.
