News Conference and Candlelight Vigil for Slain Officer

WHAT: News Conference and Candlelight Vigil

WHEN: Monday, February 23, 2004, at 6:00 p.m., immediately followed by Candlelight Vigil, at 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: Newton Community Police Station, 3400 South Central Avenue, Los Angeles, on the front steps of the station

WHO: Commissioner David S. Cunningham III, Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton, Assistant Chief George Gascon, Deputy Chief Gary Brennan, Captain Fabian Lizarraga, Captain Sean Kane and Newton Division Officers

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department and Newton Division will host a candlelight vigil for slain Police Officer Ricardo Lizarraga.

On Friday, February 20, 2004, Officer Lizarraga and his partner responded to a Domestic Violence radio call. During the course of their investigation Officer Lizarraga was fatally wounded during a gun battle. Kenrick William Johnson was arrested for 187 (A) P.C. Murder.
