Homicide Investigation in North Hollywood – NR23096am

Sun Valley: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide unit, is currently investigating a shooting which resulted in two people sustaining gunshot wounds, one of whom later died at a local hospital.

On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, around 8:45 p.m., the victims were standing near the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Leadwell Street in Sun Valley when they were approached by at least one suspect who opened fire, striking both victims. The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics transported both victims to local hospitals where they underwent surgery. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

The motive for the shooting is unclear and no arrests have been made. There is no suspect description at this time.
