LAPD and Community Members Join to Honor Fallen Officers at the 1st Annual LAPD Candlelight Vigil

News Conference to open Police Memorial Week and Candlelight Vigil to honor Los Angeles Police Department Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Why:
The Los Angeles Police Department has organized this first-ever Candlelight Vigil. The event grew out of the public’s interest to participate in the Department’s annual week-long memorial ceremonies. In particular, LAPD will be recognizing Officer Ricardo Lizarraga, who was killed in the line of duty, February 20, 2004.

Additional:
LAPD Officers from Air Support Division, the Motorcycle Drill Team, Bomb Squad, Underwater Dive Team, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Mounted and K-9 Units will be available for questions and photo opportunities.

Families of fallen officers will have the opportunity to create a pencil transfer of the names inscribed on the LAPD Memorial Monument.
